The Denver Broncos have to add some firepower to their offense during the 2025 offseason.
In order for quarterback Bo Nix to take a step forward in his development, he must be surrounded with better weapons. The cupboard isn't completely bare, as wide receiver Courtland Sutton is coming off a career-year with 81 receptions, 1,081 yards, and eight touchdowns.
If Denver can complement Sutton with some upgrades, the Broncos' offense could turn the corner. One move that could be made is signing multi-time All-Pro WR Davante Adams, who is now a free agent after being released by the New York Jets on Tuesday.
Adams spent 11 games with the Jets in 2024 after they acquired him in a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. The 11-year, 32-year-old veteran is still productive, as he caught 85 passes for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns in 2024. Adams has been named an All-Pro three times, a Pro Bowler six times, and has led the NFL in receiving touchdowns twice during his career.
He would pair well opposite Sutton and give Nix another legitimate receiving option. Adams still has plenty of burst off the line of scrimmage and can make the tough contested catches. His experience and leadership off the field would also be of great value to the young Denver offense. The Broncos are in solid shape with their approximant salary cap number of $41 million.
The free agent legal tampering period beings on March 10, with signings able to become official on March 12 – marking the beginning of the new league year. There will definitely be a market for Adams, but not likely a huge bidding war. At the least, the Broncos should inquire about Adams. It's not out of the realm of possibilities that he would want to play for an up-and-coming team with a proven head coach.
