The Denver Broncos came out of Monday night's game somewhat banged up. Justin Simmons, who may be their best player, will miss his first game since 2017 in Week 2 against the Houston Texans.
He was on injured reserve in Weeks 14, 15, and 16 of the 2017 season with an ankle injury.
He is currently dealing with a thigh injury that occurred sometime in the second half of the Monday Night Football Game against the Seattle Seahawks.
This leaves either Caden Sterns or P.J. Locke to start at Safety with Simmons missing. Hackett was asked about who would start, and he said that the coaching staff is still making that decision.
With Simmons on the injured reserve list, he is to miss at least four games, now. Without their best defensive player, and maybe best safety in the league, the Broncos could potentially struggle over the next four games.
Luckily, they are prepared for that.
Caden Sterns and P.J. Locke are both very good safeties and will fill in where they can over the next few weeks, so, the Broncos shouldn't be in too much trouble.
