The Denver Broncos have some tough decisions to make on Friday, as it will be the first time we see them make a draft selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.
They didn't have a first-round pick and don't draft until the third round, so, it may be a little harder to be able to see what's available when it's their turn to pick at 67. They still have a whole second round to go through and have several needs to address.
But, we still have a sense of who will be there at 67 and 68. We can guess who will be there anyways based on big boards, but no one truly knows, and the first round showed that too, as several guys who we thought would go early just didn't.
The Broncos should stay away from a few guys at 67 and 68 though, and there are some guys they should target. Basically, there are some do's and don'ts for day two of the NFL draft for the Broncos.
Broncos' round three: Do's
Kelee Ringo, Georgie CB
Ringo is a guy that could be there when they pick, or he could go just before the Broncos. He has very high potential and teams will love his 6'2" frame on the outside. Not to mention he has great speed and physicality too. The Broncos' cornerback room isn't looking great right now outside of Surtain, and Ringo fits what Joseph likes to do.
Chandler Zavala, NC State G
The Broncos, even after their free agency splurge, still need offensive line pieces and depth. Right now Quinn Meinerz is the only right guard on the roster, and he has injury issues. Zavala is a competent guard that could develop into a starter. If Meinerz were to go down, I wouldn't be too worried about Zavala making the start.
Joe Tippmann, Wisconsin C
The Broncos also need another center. It was rumored all offseason that they would take one to replace Lloyd Cushenberry at the position. This draft has some guys at the position who could get the job done like Tippmann. He should be available when they pick too.
Broncos' round three: Don'ts
Clark Phillips III, Utah CB
Yes, the Broncos need a cornerback, but I'm not completely sold on Phillips, who is a guy that allowed four touchdowns and 511 yards last season. He had flashes, which are great, but his 5'9" 184-pound frame isn't going to help him any in a defense like the one the Broncos will trott out there. He can be a good player, I just think there are better fits out there.
Tucker Kraft, South Dakota State TE
There is the idea that Broncos fans and media members have that the team has to draft a tight end high in the draft. No, they don't. This is a guy a lot of people want, but they shouldn't get. This one is different because Kraft is a great player, but I believe they have something special in Greg Dulcich. That's not saying they shouldn't take a tight end in the later rounds, just not round three.
Cory Tribe, Purdue CB
This is another guy that is kind of more about fit than anything. His college numbers are actually great, but he is a guy that a lot of people may end up reaching for when it's the Broncos' turn to pick. If they like him enough they could easily trade back, and get him and more picks.
