We all saw what the Denver Broncos' biggest need was this last season. Besides a new coach, this team needed some help protecting their $235 million quarterback.
Wilson was sacked more than any other quarterback last season besides Justin Fields, who both led the league by being sacked 55 times. That is a lot of times seeing your quarterback in the grass.
So, he definitely needs some help. The offseason is the perfect way to improve that, and the Broncos need help on all parts of the line. They need guards, centers, and tackles.
Getting all of those will be hard to do in free agency, so the only other way is the draft. As the order currently stands, the Broncos have the 29th pick in the draft.
That is a fine position to get one of the better tackles in the draft.
Darnell Wright, the offensive tackle from Tennessee, didn't have the best career in college but had one hell of a season in 2022. He has the size and the tools to be an elite tackle at 6'6" and 335 pounds, he is still pretty light on his feet.
Wright is the 45th ranked player in the draft, but could easily be taken around the same time the Broncos pick because of the number of tackles projected to go in the first round. The Broncos need an offensive line badly, and they will and should reach at 29 to get a guy like Wright.
Per Pro Football Focus, Wright allowed only eight pressures all season, and only one in their game against Alabama going against Will Anderson Jr. If there is one thing he could get better at, it is definitely his run-blocking.
Wright also didn't allow a single sack on 507 pass block snaps in 2022 and was the right tackle for one of the best passing offenses in all of college football.
If the Broncos could get a guy like Wright on the right side of the line protecting Wilson, and the right coach for the offense, there is no telling what they could do.
