Denver Broncos Russell Wilson

According to one former league MVP, the Denver Broncos quarterback must do a few things to get back on track.

The Broncos have a big season ahead of them, one where they must improve. To do that, it starts with Russell Wilson, who had the worst year of his career last season. If he plays better this year, there is a lot more the Broncos can do in 2023.

But, to do that, Wilson has a lot he needs to do. He has to do certain things to have a better year. Last year was a season full of things that were forced. The game has to come to him. One former NFL MVP actually broke down everything he needs to do in 2023 to become the same Russell Wilson we saw in Seattle.

Wilson has to commit to doing the little things. He has to commit to "the five Ps": Proper preparation prevents poor performance. Wilson's preparation needed to be better a season ago. He has all the tools in his toolbox. He has all the physical and mental skills to play at a high level, like his first 10 Seattle seasons. But to me, it begins with the heart, the mind, and the passion. He's got to get that passion back. And, as I said earlier, he needs that eye of the tiger. I want to see the fight in Wilson. Payton wants to see the fight with Wilson, and his teammates want to see it, too. – The 33rd Team

If anyone knows how to win football games and what it takes to be an MVP, Gannon ticks all the boxes. Gannon may not have been the most talented quarterback ever, but he won some games and some individual hardware.

Now what he said Wilson needs to do is 100% true. Wilson has been known to do too much at times, and last season you could see that. He sometimes wanted the deep ball too bad when it wasn't there. He wanted the home run play every play, and that just needs to be more realistic.

This is where Payton comes in. He is the perfect coach to turn Wilson around. He did it with Drew Brees and can do it with Wilson. He wants his team to run the ball a lot to set up the deep ball. That's perfect for Wilson. Gannon has it all right.
