The Denver Broncos made some moves during free agency that we all liked a lot for the most part. I mean, they were all moves that needed to be made, and all were a huge need. Even the backup quarterback signing was one that was pretty important.
Denver signed Jarrett Stidham, the former starter for the Las Vegas Raiders, as their backup quarterback to Russell Wilson. This fit is great because we saw in the last two games of the season what he can do if he needs to start.
For Stidham, he wanted to join the Broncos because Sean Payton was the new head coach.
"I think the main thing was, coach Payton obviously being a huge fan of him and, you know, his time in New Orleans from whenever I was a little kid and whenever he was, you know, coaching Drew Brees throughout the years," Stidham said during his signing day. "So, really, that was probably the main reason for just getting to play under him and getting to work with him every day."
But, Peter King of NBC Sports seems to think there is another reason that he is hearing around the league as to why he left the Raiders.
I hear Stidham figured with Garoppolo coming and the chance the Raiders could take a quarterback with their early first-round pick, he’d have a better chance at playing time under Sean Payton in Denver.

I'm sure both have some truth to them. Had he stayed in Las Vegas, he would have been the third-string if they did go ahead and draft a rookie quarterback. He didn't want to take that risk.
Plus, it's time to start admitting that the Broncos will soon again be a team free agents want to play for. Stidham is the start of that.
