Nathaniel Hackett is out in Denver. Who will bet in for the Broncos in the coming months?
There are plenty of options. Some of them are veteran former head coaches or coordinators. Others are exciting, young up and comers around the league.
Although, their last one of those didn't work out as HC for the Broncos. The Broncos gave fans and the media a potential hint about the candidates for their next head coach.
Denver reportedly wants a coach that has a connection with Russell Wilson.
They believe that someone familiar with Wilson's game could help rekindle his career.
This thought process makes sense, even if that is difficult for fans to understand.
The Broncos are fairly bootstrapped to Russ and his contract. There's no questioning that. It would be difficult to move off of him.
Accordingly, the Broncos sound like they will continue to build around him.
That includes the coaching staff. Potential candidates could be Dan Quinn and Darrell Bevell. There are other coaches around the NFL that have a relationship with Wilson, too. Expect them to get a look when interviews begin for Denver.
One thing is clear. The Broncos are not giving up on Wilson yet.
They believe in the quarterback that they traded plenty of capital for just this past off-season. Abandoning ship so soon would be a tough look for the front office.
Keep an eye out for former coordinators or assistants that have been around Wilson in the past for the Broncos in the coming months.
