Not only is Patrick Surtain one of the best three cornerbacks in the league, but he is also one of the best budget guys in the league too. How? He is still on his rookie contract but producing at an elite level.

CBS Sports picked him as one of the best budget players in the NFL. Here is what they had to say about the young star.

Halfway through his rookie deal, Surtain is already in contention for the best young corner in the game, rivaled only perhaps by the others on this list. Even as Denver has struggled to make serious noise, he's been a steady hand in their secondary. –Cody Benjamin, CBS Sports

Surtain is entering his third season after wrapping up a sophomore year that was very impressive. He finished as one of the best cornerbacks in the league – possibly the best, depending on what you rank the players by.

The biggest reason the Bronco's defense was soo good last year – the only reason the Broncos even got the wins they did – was because of how good Surtain and Simmons were. Of course, Dre'Mont Jones and company were huge too. However, Surtain locked down almost every opponent he faced.

Against Davante Adams in Week 4, he allowed over 100 receivers yards, but many of those catches were in a zone where his teammate missed the coverage too. Surtain blanketed Adams and made every catch a contested one.

His current contract is four years, $20.9 million, with an AAV of $5 million per year. Surtain is the 30th highest-paid cornerback in the league. When his deal is up in 2024, he will be looking for an extension worth up to $20 million a year, which is what Jalen Ramsey and Denzel Ward are currently making.

If you ask me, he is the second-best cornerback in the league behind Sauce Gardner. Surtain will end up resetting the market for his position. But right now, he is easily one of the best-budget players in the league.
