The Denver Broncos enter the 2023 NFL Draft in a sticky situation.

They only have five draft picks in the entire draft and the first one doesn't come until Round 3. You can thank the Russell Wilson trade and the Sean Payton trade for that.

New head coach Sean Payton recently had an interesting quote at a press conference.

This is interesting because Payton has a long history of trading in the NFL Draft. It is just not the way you would expect.

In his last 13 drafts, Sean Payton has made 22 draft-day trades- none of them were to move back.

In his last 13 drafts, Payton and the Saints made 22 draft-day trades — and they did not trade back once. Payton has traded down just three times, and all three of them came in his first two years on the job. In two of the three trade-downs, Payton's team also received a veteran player as part of the deal. In New Orleans' moves up the board, they included picks from future years in 10 of the 23 trades. – Aric DiLalla, Denverbroncos.com

Is it possible we see a change in philosophy and he trades down to accumulate more capital?

Or does he package what picks he has and maybe a player and try to make a splash move in a trade up?

After all, he did say it was very feasible to move around the draft.

Only time will tell, but I feel it is safe to say the Broncos won't be staying put for the entire NFL Draft.
