Last year did not go as planned for the Denver Broncos. In fact, it went the complete opposite. They had to end up tearing everything down, when it came to the coaching staff, and starting over.
Nathaniel Hackett didn't work, ad neither did his staff. So, they went out and got Sean Payton, the guy Russell Wilson has wanted to coach him for years.
Wilson had the worst year he has ever had. Honestly, he had one of the worst seasons from a "superstar" quarterback we have ever seen. So, he kind of has to get it right this time. The team still has faith in him, and I think now most of the fan base does too.
But, one Broncos insider thinks the team could have a backup plan in place if the Wilson experiment doesn't go well, again.
“I think they are going to get a veteran quarterback," Mike Klis of Denver 9 News said on 104.5 The Fan. "Therefore if Russell Wilson plays like he did last year, someone else is going to come in and become the quarterback.”
Klis also said in his interview that Baker Mayfield would be a great fit to be the backup, or the starter if things don't go well.
The Broncos are prepared for anything this time, and in my opinion, they weren't last time. But then again, why would they have been? No one knew the season was going to go the way it did, and no one knew Wilson would play the way he did because it had never happened before in his career.
Let's just hope they get it right this time though.
