The Denver Broncos have some bubble guys on the roster who could lose their spots because of the Dalvin Cook news.
Cook is going to either be traded or released today. If the Minnesota Vikings can't come up with a trade, which they haven't been able to the last few months, then they will release him, and every team has a shot at signing the former Pro Bowler, including the Broncos, who are expected to make a push for him.
But if the Broncos do indeed sign Cook, that could spell trouble for some bubble guys on the roster trying to make the team.
Jaleel McLaughlin, RB

McLaughlin is currently somewhere down the depth chart for the running backs. I my opinion, he s probably the last running back on the depth chart at this moment, which is why his job is at risk. McLaughlin is a guy who was dominant at Youngstown State, where in his 2021 season he rushed for 1,139 total yards on 175 carries, averaging 113.9 yards per game.
The Broncos like what they see in him, but, they could easily move him to the practice squad. Cook has the experience and has done it at literally the highest level possible. I think they would trade him out for Cook in a heartbeat.
Tyler Badie, RB

The other guy is former Mizzou running back Tyler Badie, who has actually been pretty good when he gets on the field – that's because he has had one catch and one run attempt, and one touchdown in his NFL career.
The Broncos like Badie a lot, as they ended up elevating him off the practice squad last season in Week 18 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Badie has build that the Broncos love, and he showed that he can catch the ball out of the backfield, but the experience isn't there yet, among a few other things.
Tony Jones Jr., RB

Jones Jr. could be a guy that doesn't make the team because of Cook, but I think there is one thing keeping him safer than the other two guys – he has played for Sean Payton before and knows the system. But that doesn't mean Payton wouldn't choose Cook over him, as anyone would.
The Broncos have a good group of running backs, but it still needs to be better. Jones is a guy that can do a lot of things, but that may not stop him from being a bubble guy that ends up making the practice squad.
The Denver Broncos will have some tough decisions to make, as all of these guys have shown something they really like, whether it be last season or this off-season. But Cook is a guy that you really can't pass up on if you need a running back, and they desperately do.
