The Denver Broncos recently let their starting running back Melvin Gordon go after another fumble cost the offense potential points.
On October 24th the Broncos signed Marlon Mack, and this week they elevated Devine Ozigbo to the active roster.
Mack was on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad and will now likely get some carries for the Broncos as Chase Edmonds has suffered a high ankle sprain.
The recent speculation is if mack will be ready to have some carries on the offense because he will get some. 32-year-old Latavius Murray can't get every single carry.
"Yes, I think he is," Hackett said on Mack being comfortable in the offense.
Which is good, that is exactly what you want to hear. Mack is a veteran, so he should be fine. Then again, he hasn't had a carry since last season.
"He is going to have to go in there, he is going to have to take advantage of this opportunity," Hackett told reporters.
"I'm excited to see him. he has a little extra burst, and he has been in a system like this coming from the 49ers, watching some of the stuff he did in Indianapolis, I think it will carry over."
The veteran can help this team almost immediately. I'm not going to sit here and say he will be an impactful player in every single game, but Mack can definitely relieve some stress on the offense every now and then.
He can catch the ball out of the backfield and run it on first and second down when needed. He will be a great backup to Murray when he needs a breather.
If Hackett thinks he is comfortable enough to go in and play this week than I guess he is. We will just have to see how many snaps he gets, and they could get bigger as the season goes on.
Either way, it seems like the coaching staff has faith in Marlon Mack.
