You are probably aware by now of all the rumors surfacing around Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos locker room issues. Well, there is new information that would suggest those rumors aren't true.
if you are unaware of what these rumors are, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported on his show that there are people within the organization unhappy with Wilson, and the new broncos' quarterback has already lost the locker room, instead of it being Nathaniel Hackett the new head coach.
Several Broncos players, and Hackett, came to Wilson's defense on Wednesday.
Let's start with Hackett who said:
“To me, it’s all gossip. We have a fantastic locker room. I’ve never seen somebody work that hard and try to embrace a team like he has.”
The head coach will always spend a ton of time with his starting quarterback, so he probably sees a lot of this. However, at the same time, he isn't in the locker room all the time.
So let's see what some guys who are in the locker room a lot have to say about Wilson.
“A lot of it is just so outlandish to me because I get to see him work every day. I get to see how much he cares about the guys in this locker room and the devotion he has to this game," Said offensive lineman Dalton Risner.
Risner blocks for him every day in practice. He has a very close relationship with his quarterback, as do most offensive linemen and quarterbacks.
What about someone that plays across from him in practice every day?
"He's an amazing leader. He is an amazing teammate… I can’t fathom thinking of that stuff," safety Justin Simmons added.
And then there is Wilson, who was asked about the rumors.
“I’ve got great relationships in that locker room. So whoever is trying to tear it down, you can’t," Wilson told reporters on Wednesday.
If you ask me, I believe all the players and coaches, not the reports of people who aren't in the locker room or with the team every single day.
Those players, and Hackett, played their best defense all week by defending him, as they should.
Wilson hasn't had a good season at all, but some of the stuff that is being rumored about him is just crazy, and I think most can see he isn't a guy that does the things he is being accused of.
