If you were under a rock earlier this week, then you may not know that the Denver Broncos traded away one of their best defensive players, and got another guy in return.
Bradley Chubb was dealt to the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday before the deadline for a first-round draft pick, a fourth-round draft pick, and running back Chase Edmonds.
The Broncos were either going to have to pay Chubb a lot of money next year, or they could deal him and get draft capital since they had great depth behind him all season.
Edmonds is a great young running back, and he will be used a ton this year, especially considering the issues they have had at the position
"Whatever they ask me in my role," Edmonds said. "I'm a big team player, I just like to fulfill my role to the best of my ability.
"I got to talk to Russ [Wilson], and I got to facetime him a little bit. It's funny just because I ran into him last year at the Pro Bowl at a restaurant, and being a little fanboy, I told him before free agency had started, hey bro, wherever you end up, I'm trying to slide to you, so it's just ironic and funny how certain things work out, and how god has mysterious ways of just doing what he does best, but I'm excited to be here."
It really is crazy how things work out, in terms of how the two nearly manifested this to happen. Cue the "look at us, who would have thought," Paul Rudd meme.
I think Edmonds will fit in perfectly, especially considering he is a team guy. Oh, and not to mention he has always wanted to play with Wilson, so that helps, too.
Edmonds will give the running back room great depth, too. He has nearly two weeks to get acclimated to the system, so I wouldn't doubt him playing net week,
