The Denver Broncos' newest member revealed why he signed with the team heading into the 2023 season, and it should only attract more free agents in the future.
On June 8, Jordan Schultz of The Score reported that Clark would head to his former division rival, the Denver Broncos. Clark spent four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, winning two Super Bowl rings and beating his new team eight straight times.
One specific thing brought Clark to the mile-high city on a one-year deal worth up to $7 million.
"The situation with Sean Payton is good for me. I get to play alongside Randy Gregory and stay in my division that I am very familiar with," Clark told Josina Anderson on her podcast as soon as the news dropped. "I also want to help the Broncos get back to the mountaintop."
Sean Payton is the reason a few guys signed with the Broncos. That is one reason we will get the Broncos more free agents in the future. His scheme fits offensive players of all shapes and sizes, and the defense he is bringing with Vance Joseph attracts players too.
Clark was just at the White House with the Kansas City Chiefs celebrating his second Super Bowl ring just days before announcing where he would spend the next year of his career. Now, he gets to try and get the Broncos back to that promised land. And while it may not happen in 2023, Clark can be a huge reason the team made improvements from last season to this season.
