The Denver Broncos made some huge changes recently, and it didn't shock one person. The firing of Nathaniel Hackett was one that needed to be made.
But now there are some more changes happening with the coaching.
Per James Palmer of NFL Network, he reported something before the game against the Chiefs. Not only that there was a change, but the coaches agree there is little to no identity with this team.
"Within hours of Broncos interim head coach Jerry Rosburg being named to that position, he started making changes. One of the worst special teams units in football. He fires the special teams coordinator. They've given up an NFL-high 57 sacks this season. He fires the offensive line coach and today he's making another change. I'm told they're going to move on to their third play caller of the season as offensive coordinator Justin Outten is going to be calling plays today.
"I've been told by coaches on the offensive side of the ball that they have changed this offense so many times to accommodate Russell Wilson and make him feel comfortable, they're not even sure what the identity of this offense truly is. The identity today though, is going to be run the football. They want to keep Patrick Mahomes off the field and they want to run it consistently throughout the game."
Any team needs an identity, especially on offense. This team doesn't know if they want to be known as a team that runs the ball or throws it, and frankly, they need to figure that out for the future because Wilson isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
This report just shows you how bad this season has been, and how far we are from what we thought this season could be. The Broncos can still get a win over the Chiefs though. Maybe Rosburg making Outten the play caller will be good for Denver.
