The Denver Broncos are trying to do whatever they can to get back to being a competitive team in the postseason. It's been since 2015 that they were able to be labeled as a playoff team. They won the Super Bowl that year, and haven't done anything since.
So, they are trying anything that could possibly help them. They are even signing players in the UFL, like Dondrea Tillman, to see if that can spark anything.
Under Sean Payton, they have undoubtedly shown improvements compared to what they showed under Nathaniel Hackett. But, that's not hard to do. While a lot of it has to do with coaching, some of it also has to do with General Manager George Paton just making better decisions. And, signings and trades are a big part of that.
One of the recent moves they made, bringing in defensive lineman John Franklin-Meyers, was a decision made by Paton that could end up helping the Broncos a ton. In fact, Franklin-Meyers is making a promise that it will.
"I play with an effort and a physicality that people just aren't willing to match," Franklin-Myers said. "It's just how I am. It's how I was designed."
Franklin-Meyers quote tweeted that quote on Twitter by saying "Bronco Country, y’all will see very soon!"
Franklin-Meyers is making a promise that he is just different. He is physical, and you can see that when you watch his tape from when he played for the New York Jets and Los Angeles Rams.
"I played in a 4-3 for four years, so it was a little different, just because you don't know how somebody's going to play you," Franklin-Myers said of his new role in Denver. "Once I talked to [Joseph] and understood what the assignment was, then I'm on board and I'm locked in. A chance to grow as a person and as a football player and as a teammate? Shoot, I can't pass that up."
Franklin-Meyers can be a real steal for the Broncos and their much-needed depth on the defensive line.
