While the Denver Broncos signed Samaje Perine in the offseason to be the starter while Williams is out, and the backup when he is back, the Broncos still need depth at the position. They need guys who will be ready and available. Luckily one ESPN analyst Matt Miller has them taking a great running back in round four.
108. Denver Broncos: Tank Bigsby, RB, Auburn
Here is what NFL.com has to say about Bigsby:
Bigsby was a five-star recruit, winning the Class AA Georgia Offensive Player of the Year award as a junior (2,221 rushing yards) at Callaway High School. In 2020, Bigsby was the Co-SEC Freshman of the Year and led the Tigers with 834 rushing yards (138 carries, 6.0 per, five scores; 11-84-7.6 receiving; 13-300-23.1 kick returns). He was Auburn's Offensive Player of the Year in 2021 with a team-high 1,102 yards and 10 scores on the ground (223 carries, 4.9 per; 21-184-8.8 receiving) in 13 starts. Bigsby led Auburn in rushing again in 2022 (179-970-5.4, 10 TDs; 30-180-6.0 receiving), starting 11 of 12 games played.
Bigsby is an upright runner with a strong, angular frame. He runs with plus burst and can create yards even when the blocking is insufficient. Bigsby runs with a nice blend of elusiveness and power, and he can quickly process the movements of the defense. Fumbling has been a concern in the past, and he might not be much help on third downs or special teams. His size, creativity, and quickness could create an opportunity for teams to pair Bigsby with another back to form an effective tandem in a zone-scheme rushing attack.– by Chad Reuter, NFL.com
Bigsby is a beast. There isn't much else to say. As of right now, the running back room consists of Javonte Williams, Samaje Perine, Damarea Crockett, Tyler Badie, and Tyreik McAllister. It's pretty clear that they need another guy. And, he could potentially develop into something better. This pick, at 108, would not only have a ton of value but would be perfect.
