The Denver Broncos are still searching for their defensive coordinator, and have yet to have any luck. They will need a guy who can do something similar to what Ejiro Evero did last season.
What Evero did last season was very impressive. While the team stunk as a whole and won just a few games, Evero was able to keep the team in games consistently just because of the top 10, and sometimes top 5, a defense he was putting on the field.
Now, the Broncos need a guy they feel can do something similar. And they thought they may have that guy.
Jim Leonhard has been a name that a few teams have wanted so far this offseason, including the Philadelphia Eagles. But, he just recently agreed that he and the Eagles go their own separate ways when it comes to the candidacy.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported why.
"Jim Leonhard and the Eagles mutually decided they would not move forward with his DC candidacy, per league sources. Leonhard had planned to undergo hip surgery and sit out coaching for a year, but when the Eagles job opened, both sides had an interest in discussing the position, which they did last week. Ultimately, they decided it wasn't the right time."
Based on his statement, that would also mean he likely won't be joining the Broncos either. You wish the guy recovers well, but man, the Broncos still need to find their guy.
