The Denver Broncos have an issue on the offensive side of the ball that not many are talking about. They don't have a ton of depth in their running back room.

Javonte Williams, the starting running back, went out with a terrible injury last year halfway through the season. He had several injuries within the one injury if that makes sense. His ACL and LCL were torn, and he probably won't be ready for the start of the season.

So, they signed Samaje Perine, the backup to Joe Mixon in Cincinnati last season. He will be the starter until Williams gets back. But, they don't have a ton of depth behind him. They have Damarea Crockett who tore his ACL in training camp last year, and we don't really know what he brings.

Behind him, it's really just practice squad-esque players. That's fine, I mean some of them could get a shot and end up getting a spot. But, they still should take a running back later in the draft.

One PFF analyst has the Broncos doing that on day three.

DENVER BRONCOS: RB DEUCE VAUGHN, KANSAS STATE

Sean Payton loves a pure receiving back. He worked magic with Darren Sproles for years and now gets the closest thing to Sproles to declare for the draft in years. Vaughn is tiny by running back standards at 5-foot-5 and 179 pounds. He doesn’t run like it, though. Vaughn peaked with a 93.4 rushing grade in 2021 and went for 2,970 rushing yards across the past two seasons.

Vaughn is a guy that can be the third running back if needed. Sure, he is small, but he packs a punch. There is no doubt that he is a top-three pass-catching running back from this class too.

Vaughn is durable too, as he played 37 games in the last three years. He can take hits, and he can do everything else a running back needs to do too. I think this would be a great day-three pick for the Broncos.
