John Harbaugh, the Ravens' head coach, sees a bright spot through the Denver Broncos' current darkness on display in the 2022 season.
When I say darkness, you likely already know what I mean, because if you are reading this you are likely a Broncos fan. Why else would you do that to yourself?
The Broncos' darkness comes as a disappointment. This was one of the more, if not the most disappointing, seasons ever in Broncos history. But, through it all, Harbaugh sees something positive in this team and gives credit where it's due.
“Statistically, that’s right. This is a defense that plays very well together," Harbaugh said on Wednesday when asked if the Broncos have one of the better defenses in the league.
He couldn't be more right too, as this is something we have known about this team for so long. They will compete on that side of the ball. The other not so much.
"They’ve got a lot of good players; they have three or four really top-level players," Harbaugh continued. "They have one or two guys at every level that are kind of star players I guess you’d say. Then, they have a bunch of guys that are all very good players that play … They play the same.
"At the position, they all play the same, which is the mark of a well-coached defense. So, it’s a very good system defense. They play very hard, and they’re very successful. I think they’re the second-ranked defense in the NFL right now. So, we have our hands full, and we’re looking forward to the challenge.”
The Broncos are getting some credit, even when they don't deserve it. I don't mean the defense doesn't deserve the praise because they aren't good. I mean the season has been so bad and disappointing that they don't deserve any credit.
During his time as the Ravens' head coach, he has seen some pretty good defenses, so the praise doesn't go unnoticed, as Harbaugh definitely knows what he is talking about.
Hearing another coach as good as Harbaugh talk about the defense like that should make Broncos fans feel good. This season sucks, I know, but for everyone's own good, let's try to find something good in the bad.
That good is the defense.
