The Denver Broncos were a team that no one wanted to watch last season. I mean, they had their own fans counting down the play clock for them out loud, for crying out loud. It was bad and embarrassing. But that was the last season. The last-place offense certainly didn't help, either.
Things are different, for sure. I don't believe a Nathaniel Hackett-led team would have been able to win five straight games after starting 1-5. So, it's easy to say Sean Payton is the deciding factor this season. The Broncos are easily headed in the right direction, whereas last year, it felt like there was no direction but wrong.
The Broncos struggled with attendance last season at times. The beginning of the season was great, as they sold out several home games to start. And why wouldn't they? The new and improved regime was in town with a shiny new quarterback who had won a Super Bowl before.
Attendance started so well that they ended up staying at fifth in attendance the rest of the year. But, you could tell during the middle of the season that the attendance wasn't near as great as it was during the beginning of the season. Of course, Denver fans finished the season strong when Hackett was fired.
According to ESPN, the Broncos finished fifth in attendance with an average of 75,980 and a percentage of 99.8.
With Sean Payton now at the helm and the team being a whole lot more exciting to watch, the Broncos currently sit at 10th in attendance. That may sound bad, but when you read the percentages, it's actually better. The attendance around the league is just up.
According to Draft Kings, the Bronco's attendance percentage is up to 100.4%, and that number may only grow. Now, some may be asking, how can you have more than 100%? Well, some stadiums only have standing room.
His efforts to get this team into a wild-card spot have made the Broncos an exciting team to watch again under Sean Payton. Not only that, but the team is set up to have their best season since they won the Super Bowl. Things are getting better in Denver, and the attendance numbers, even in 2022, show that they have one of the best fan bases in the league. They deserve all the good coming their way.
Broncos coach points out Sean Payton’s legendary trait
One of the Broncos’ coaches gave Sean Payton one hell of a compliment the other day.
