Rod Smith was inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame in 2012, a fitting place for a literal franchise legend.

The all-time leading reciever in Denver Broncos history finished with 849 catches, 11,389 yards, and 68 touchdowns. However, over a decade since he hung up his cleats he's still waiting for a call to Canton.

The superstar wide receiver played with the organization from 1994-2006, an impressive career that saw him start in 158 out of a possible 183 games. Remaining with one team that long is something not typically seen anymore.

Outside of his on-field stats, Smith also has some incredible accolades. The talented receiver earned three Pro Bowl nods and has two Super Bowl trophies to his name.

Despite his impressive career, it just may not be quiet enough to get him into the Hall of Fame. In fact, after he was inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame, an ESPN reporter outright admitted that while deserving, his wait for the NFL Hall of Fame would "be a long one."

Smith is making a passionate case as to why he is deserving, and it's hard to argue. By just looking at mere numbers, he beats out some of those who are already enshrined in Canton.

Receivers Raymond Berry and Art Monk, who both had 68 touchdown catches during their careers, are both Hall of Famers. Smith also had more receiving yards than Berry and Lance Alworth, too.

Smith was candid in a recent interview with the Denver Gazette, "I feel I’m deserving, but I don’t get to vote," He continued, pointing out that the team mostly focused on the rushing attack during his time, making his stats even that much more impressive.

"We had a 1,000-yard rusher every year I was there [except for one]," Smith added. "You've got to look at my complete body of work. During my era, we won more games than just about anybody. At the end of the day, what I cared about more than anything was winning, and they can't take the Super Bowls away from me."

If the Broncos faithful were able to choose, it would be a no-brainer that Smith would be a Hall of Famer. Now, all that's left to do is wait.
