The Denver Broncos made a flurry of roster moves on Thursday, and it all began with the team moving three players to injured reserve, including a starting defender.
According to the NFL's personnel notice, the Broncos placed NB K'Waun Williams (leg), S P.J. Locke (ankle), and OT Alex Palczewski (hand) on injured reserve on Thursday. Today was the first day that players were eligible to be placed on injured reserve and then later brought back with the IR-return designation.
They're required to miss a minimum of four weeks before they can be designated to return, which means they'll miss games against the Raiders, Commanders, Dolphins, and Bears. They'll be allowed to come back for Week 5 against the Jets and former Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett.
Williams, of course, is the team's starting nickel corner in sub-package defense. Locke plays a key depth role, as does Palczewski.
In corresponding moves, Denver brought up three players from the practice squad. Those players are:
- DT Mike Purcell
- CB Fabian Moreau
- OG Quinn Bailey
The team also made three corresponding practice squad transactions, officially signing WR David Sills, WR Phillip Dorsett and TE Lucas Krull, just as we predicted.
