The Denver Broncos are doing everything they can to change their entire identity from last year to this upcoming NFL season.
Sean Payton was brought in to change the status quo of the organization. To do that effectively, Payton has repeatedly turned to old faces. From the coaching staff to players, his ties to the New Orleans Saints bleeds through the very fabric of the team.
Today was no different as Payton reportedly brought in eventual Hall of Fame QB Drew Brees for practice. Having someone with that leadership speak truth into these young players hoping for a change should have a drastic impact.
Payton spoke to the media about Brees' visit and what it means for the organization. Specifically, how the situation came to be and what Brees was able to provide the organization.
"His brother lives in Centennial and so he phoned us yesterday and said he's coming in to see his brother wanted to know our schedule." Payton continued, "He knows a lot of people here, coaches, players."
After being asked if Brees was able to pour into the offense with anything specific, Payton was candid. "I don't know. I think for him it was really just getting around and seeing some familiar faces."
Payton discussed how important it was for the team's success to have a player like Brees join practice on top of the others who were in attendance. "We had a lot of people, we had our alumni in today. That was really good. They were able to watch practice and spend some time with our players afterward."
The Broncos head coach finished with a sentiment we can all get behind, "It's the lifeblood of your program are the people. The present players, the former players. Those that came before us and really built this foundation and built the tradition."
It's never a bad thing to have one of the very best to ever do it take a look at how things are running at practice. While nothing is confirmed, we're sure he had a few things to say to Payton after making the rounds.
Broncos’ Mike McGlinchey returns to practice
The Denver Broncos’ injuries have headlined the offseason as the team just cannot stay healthy. Luckily, the team just provided a huge update on one of their most important pieces.
