To be fair, we understand why Sean Payton may not have cracked the top-ten.
Payton, while having a uber-successful career, still has a lot to prove especially in Denver. The eventual Hall of Fame coach has already put his fingerprints all over the team in hopes of some major changes this season.
The former New Orleans Saints head coach was brought in to shake things up and bring back the winning ways for Denver. In his first offseason, Payton has been busy with some splash signings, draft night chess moves, and front-office adjustments that he's hoping will pay dividends.
If Payton were to take the Denver Broncos back to the playoffs this season, don't be surprised if the national media pulls a 180 and is in his good graces once again. Payton taking a team that feels so far removed from success, back to the postseason, is exactly what the organization is hoping for after bringing in Payton.

For Payton to crack the top-ten, Russell Wilson is going to need to return to his former glory. Last year, Wilson had one of his worst seasons in almost every measurable category, a far cry from what the organization was hoping for when he was brought in.
Payton has changed up the front office, he's made crucial roster adjustments, and he's changing the very fabric of the team. When the dust settles and the smoke clears, it'll be hard to argue that Payton didn't do everything in his power to bring this team success.
The head coach was given a huge gift before the season even began. He's being counted against and doubted on a national level. Players and coaches alike are always sure to keep receipts. The Broncos faithful are hoping in a few months Payton remembers those who may have doubted him and his decisions.
