This is now the second week in a row Denver Broncos' safety Kareem Jackson will be getting fined for a bad hit. Yes, it's the NFL; it's physical, but there are rules about hits, believe it or not.
Going helmet to helmet or having an egregious late hit is not allowed, and Jackson basically did both in back-to-back weeks.
The first one against the Las Vegas Raiders left Jakobi Meyers in a state that looked really bad. At first, Meyers lay on the field still, stiff, not moving or anything. Of course, he was able to get on his feet and walk off the field, but he now has a concussion.
Then, against the Washington Commanders, Jackson hit Logan Thomas late and was ejected from the game, as he should have been.
He is now playing for his fine money back. Here is what his head coach had to say about it after the game:
"Gosh, I don't have an answer for you. Those things happen so quickly from my vantage point," Sean Payton told reporters after the devastating loss. "You just get to see it one time. You look up, and—they make the call, and you have to go with it."
The NFL is all about keeping players safe. I wouldn't be surprised if they suspend Jackson for next week's game because of the hit.
