The Denver Broncos fell flat, once again, this time to the Kansas City Chiefs. The team now finds themselves on a brutal losing streak, totaling 16 consecutive losses to the division rival.
Russell Wilson and the offense just couldn't get going in this contest. Luckily, it looks like the defense had a resurgence of sorts and kept the Broncos in this game until the last few minutes of the contest.
Late in the game, Wilson was finally able to get the offense cooking and found Courtland Sutton in the back of the endzone, making it so the loss wasn't that embarrassing by not getting shut out.
Even before the contest, we had a feeling things weren't going to go the Broncos' way. Jerry Jeudy got heated after Steve Smith Sr. called him out during the live broadcast, setting the tone for the ugly evening of football.
While the game wasn't decided by one singular play, head coach Sean Payton had a few mishaps throughout the contest. Payton went viral after quite literally showing his hand late in the contest, giving the fans at home an inside look at a majority of the team's plays.
That wasn't the only blunder that Payton had faced. Late in the first half, Payton made the decision to call a timeout after Wilson was sacked, causing many fans to scratch their heads. Payton opened up with some brief comments on what had happened.
The Broncos head coach took all the blame for the incident, "That's a boneheaded mistake by me. They were calling one as well, and I'm off a down, but that was stupid."
Payton was dejected when opening up to the media, and rightfully so. The team just cannot win football games right now in a season where he was supposed to come in and turn everything around.
Getting paid millions of dollars, continuously losing, and then forgetting what down it is during the contest is just inexcusable and frankly, ridiculous. Payton has his work cut out for him. Don't be surprised if there are some sweeping changes underway.
