The Denver Broncos are fresh off one of their most exciting wins in recent memory, destroying the streak and finally slaying the beast that is the Kansas City Chiefs.
After the win, Sean Payton opened up to the media about a page from Andy Reid's playbook that he's adopting with his team after the victory. The NFL is a copycat league, and Payton knows that all too well.
Specifically, Payton told the media that he would be adopting the success that Andy Reid had seen from his post-bye success. Specifically, the players and coaches were brought in to watch game film before ultimately being dismissed for the bye week.
Mike Klis from 9News shared the sentiments from the head coach before opening up on a previous decision from Payton from his days coaching the New Orleans Saints. Payton had previously asked Reid, directly, about the success he had seen and Payton provided the following, "Andy said I get them out here after Monday and if they win the game sometimes I don't even have them come in Monday. So, we started doing that in New Orleans and we started having success."
The defense can take all the time they need as they were able to stop Patrick Mahomes in his tracks all day, wreaking havoc on the superstar QB. Now, we would be remiss to not mention that Mahomes was battling some flu-like symptoms, but a win is a win is a win.
Getting this team rested and healthy will be the biggest factor heading into their upcoming matchup against the Buffalo Bills, in Orchard Park NY under the bright lights of 'Monday Night Football.'
Payton is going to do everything he can, with every trick he's learned along the way, to get this team ready to compete at a high level once again. It's amazing how quickly a win, especially against a team that has dominated for nearly a decade, can do for your confidence and the outlook of the entire season.
The sky is still falling, just a little slower than last week.
