The Denver Broncos have not done a great job of protecting the quarterback. Even though there's been only one preseason game, we're hovering over the panic button.

Russell Wilson just didn't have enough time to be successful early in the game, forcing bad throws and fumbling the ball as the offensive line got swallowed up by the Arizona Cardinals' defensive front.

If Denver wants to be successful this season, it starts with protection up front. Unfortunately, the team is in a situation where they don't have much depth at the position, and key guys are going down with an injury, an unfortunate trend that is bleeding over from last season.

However, not all is lost, and Sean Payton has an opportunity to bring in some important depth that could go a long way on the offensive line. Adam Schefter reported that OT Jason Peters would be returning for his 20th season, and Payton should be looking to make a few phone calls.

Peters has enjoyed a successful career that's seen him, over 19 seasons, appear in 238 games while starting 219 of them. Peters started his career as an undrafted rookie in Buffalo and blossomed. After Buffalo, Peters spent the majority of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles before joining the Chicago Bears for one season and lastly the Dallas Cowboys. In Peters' last season, he was active for 10 games and started one.

The Super Bowl champion would do wonders in the locker room as well, he's a leader on and off the field and that's the type of player Payton loves to bring in

Peters already said he has some juice in the tank, why not join Denver for one season, help out their offensive line, and help bring this team to new heights? Here's hoping Sean Payton is reading this and decides to pick up the phone and make it happen.
