The Denver Broncos are in that gray area in the NFL, where they are rebuilding, yes, but they were a game or two away from making the playoffs last season. now, what they would have done in the playoffs is a completely different story. But, for the most part, they were much better last season than the year before under Nathaniel Hackett.
So, they are in that area where they are willing to try anything if it means them getting better. And, like many teams, they are dipping their toes into the UFL waters now, by seeing if any of the young men in the league that were overlooked and slept on, would be a good fit for their team.
On Tuesday, they worked out a player on the dynasty that is the Birmingham Stallions, who have won the championship the last three years, whether it be the USFL or the UFL. This last season, they had a guy in Dondrea Tillman who finished with 3.5 sacks and 27 tackles on the edge at that outside linebacker spot.
According to Mike Klis of Denver 9 News, the Broncos are expected to sign him if the physical goes through. He will be given a $10,000 signing bonus and is being signed to a three-year deal worth $2.84 million.
The UFL (previously the XFL and USFL), has proven time and time again to be a good developmental league for the NFL. These kids that were never really given a chance, or were out of chances in the NFL, go play spring ball and show that they can play in the NFL.
The Broncos just signed the latest example, as they did before in quarterback Ben DiNucci.
Broncos could look to bring in DE Yannick Ngakoue to help boost defensive line
The Denver Broncos have had a busy offseason filled with splash signings and major changes. With a recent suspension, they could be due for yet another big move.
