The Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders played a game that started one way in the Raiders' favor, and quickly changed course. The Broncos went from down 10-0, to up 34-10. In a divisional rivalry game that has second place in the AFC West on the line, the Broncos couldn't have shown up more big than they did on throwback night.
But, it wasn't always sunshine during the game. It didn't start well at all, and the players and staff were showing their frustrations during the game on the sideline. They won 34-18, but it started badly. Bo Nix was on the sideline, doing something you probably did not have on your bingo card for the night.
After having to give the ball back to the Raiders offense, rookie quarterback Bo Nix was seen on the sideline with his quarterback coach Davis Webb at his side. Nix was almost yelling at head coach Sean Payton and looked visibly frustrated leaving their conversation.
And, as he leaves, Webb turns and says something to Payton as well, and Webb also looks upset at Payton.
"It's just, I love him to death, it's just my love language," head coach Sean Payton said after the win. "No, absolutely not," Payton continued when asked if he could reveal what was said.
And, they're not the only ones upset with Payton so far this season. Fans have been upset with Payton this season for the offense being so poor, and, it's been a bit warranted.
The offense has been one of the worst in the league, that is, until today. The Broncos quickly turned things around after this scene on the sideline. The defense helped with a pick-six and great field position off two other interceptions and a turnover on downs, but the offense still executed.
They get better after the scene, and, believe it or not, those types of situations happen more often than you would think. The good thing is, Payton pulled Nix aside afterward, they talked, they listened to each other, they fixed it, and they moved on. That makes for a great HC-QB relationship. We will get to see them continue to go well together when they play the Los Angeles Chargers next, with a chance to seal second place in the division, going up 2-0
Broncos’ Courtland Sutton already knows what Bo Nix brings to Denver and he hasn’t caught one ball from him yet
That connection is going to be great.
