Everything to know about Bo Nix
The 23-year-old quarterback is listed at 6-foot-2 and 217 pounds. He began his career at Auburn before transferring to Oregon where he played the past two seasons. In 2022, he completed 71.9% of his passes for 3,593 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions. In 2023, he completed 77.4% of his passes for 4,508 yards, 45 touchdowns and three interceptions.
Pro's and Con's via A to Z Sports' Rob Gregson:
Pros
- Dual Threat
Sturdy build and wheels to not only be a scrambler but a true plus one as a runner with designed QB keepers - Off Platform Throws
- Arm talent and accuracy shine when the launch point is moved with tight-window throws made via rolling pockets
- Mental Toughness
Overcame a tough start to his college career as a highly touted SEC recruit to become a Heisman finalist at Oregon
Cons
- Late Bloomer
Didn’t begin to show NFL capability until his second year at Oregon, nearly 5 years after his college debut - ADOT (Average Depth of Target)
Very few downfield shots despite having a tremendous set of weapons and an excellent offensive line - One and Run
Too often leaves the pocket or tucks and run when his primary read is covered. Will need to become a better processor at the next level.
A reactionary move from Denver creates a battle royale at quarterback
The Broncos already stunned earlier this week, trading for former New York Jets first-round pick Zach Willson. Now, they've stunned a second time by doubling up on the quarterback position for the 2024 NFL season. Wilson and Nix will battle it out for the starting job in Denver (and for the right to wear the No. 10 jersey).
Ultimately, this feels like a reactionary move from the Broncos. There were already five quarterbacks off of the draft board in the top 10 picks of the draft. Waiting around and hoping to get Nix later in the draft wasn't something that the brass in Denver appeared willing to do. If they get it right and one of Nix and Wilson emerges a competent starter, they'll look like geniuses. Otherwise, they'll simply add to the growing list of quarterbacks to start for the team since Peyton Manning retired from the league.
