The Denver Broncos needed this win over the Cincinnati Bengals to make the playoffs, and unfortunately for them, the football gods would not give them any more chances after giving them a chance with the Bengals missing a field goal to win it. They shot themselves in the foot one too many times.
Whether it be their mismanagement at the end of the game, or their bad play calling in overtime, not trust rookie quarterback Bo Nix, enough to let him cook. It was an assortment of issues, like a basket of various fruits from that one stalker. Nothing went their way in the end, and now there is just one more game left to try and get into the postseason, and this one is against the Kansas City Chiefs.
And, their defense folded at the worst times, and no one knows that better than second-year cornerback Riley Moss, who had one of the worst games he has had in his career.
"I love playing football," Riley Moss said. "I love the sport of football, obviously. But, like today, sometimes you get a sh*t sandwich and you just have to own it. This isn't the first time it's happened in my career, and it probably won't be the last. The great ones are able to come back, be gritty, and push through, and that's what I'm going to do and that's what I know everyone else will do."
That's quite the way to put the game. According to Next Gen Stats, Tee Higgins, the Bengals' second-best wide receiver, cooked Moss for eight targets, seven catches, 101 yards, and two touchdowns, all on 25 coverage snaps.
Moss has had a really good year, so don't let this blemish on his season diminish what he has done. He has turned into one hell of a player and will continue to improve every week. This week will only make him better. And, hey, let's not forget this was his first game returning from injury.
Bengals expert suggests Denver Broncos may finally be able to accomplish a feat that’s been holding them back all year
The Broncos need that to help this game go their way.
