The Denver Broncos’ defense deserves its flowers for the performance it put together in the team’s Week 6 win against the New York Jets. It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win. Denver walked out of London victorious, 13-11, over the Jets.

Quarterback Bo Nix looked hot in the early stages of the contest before the team ultimately moved away from the passing game for nearly the entire second half. The second-year signal caller ended his day going 19-for-30 for 174 yards and one touchdown to a wide-open tight end, Nate Adkins.

Head coach Sean Payton continued on his unprecedented run for October games with the victory. Payton is 52-17 as a head coach in October, with the best all-time winning percentage in October.

Defense, take a bow

The Broncos’ defense had nine sacks in the contest, bringing down Jets quarterback Justin Fields early and often throughout the contest.

The Denver defense limited the Jets to only 82 total yards, as Fields finished his day going nine-for-17 with 45 yards, while adding seven carries for 31 yards and no touchdowns or turnovers. Fields finished the game with negative 10 net yards passing, and it’s a testament to the defensive front wreaking havoc.

Defensive end John Franklin-Myers, defensive end Zach Allen, defensive end Eyioma Uwazurike, safety Talanoa Hufanga, and linebacker Nik Bonitto all registered one sack. Safety Brandon Jones added half a sack, with linebacker Justin Strnad getting a sack and a half, and linebacker Jonathon Cooper registering two sacks. Denver’s defense is legit, and while it was only against the Jets, it made a statement in the victory.

Bonitto specifically continues on his impressive 2025 campaign, and it may be too hard to ignore some Defensive Player of the Year buzz with yet another dominant performance.

The third quarter was a disaster for the Broncos

Taking a look at Denver’s first eight drives on offense, it scored a touchdown and a field goal but also had four punts, one fumble, and a safety.

The team wasn’t playing good complementary football and virtually took Nix out of the game, with Nix not adding more passing yards until late in the fourth quarter.

It wasn’t all Nix’s fault, and it wasn’t just the third quarter that was sloppy. The team was without offensive lineman Ben Powers, and in his absence, offensive lineman Matt Peart was filling in. In the early stages of the contest, Peart had three penalties, which ultimately crushed a few Broncos drives. Powers’ absence was felt in the matchup, and there’s a lot to clean up from the victory.

An ugly win is still a win, and the Broncos are now sitting atop the AFC West. Not a bad day at the office, all things considered.
