The Denver Broncos reportedly made an interesting addition to their coaching staff this week.

According to multiple reports, the Broncos are hiring former NFL wide receiver Willie Snead as an offensive quality control coach.

Snead, a former Ball State standout, spent 10 years as a player in the NFL.

Snead has an obvious connection to Denver via head coach Sean Payton.

The two most productive seasons of Snead’s career came while playing under Payton with the New Orleans Saints in 2015 and 2016 (1,879 receiving yards and seven touchdowns those two seasons).

It’s no surprise that Payton is bringing Snead to Denver as a coach. Payton, after all, was impressed by Snead’s intelligence as player when the two were together in New Orleans.

“He’s a smart player, so he can play multiple positions,” said Payton of Snead in 2015. “And we’ve been impressed — I would say I’ve been impressed with his body of work up to date. It’s been very consistent.”

Snead last appeared in a regular season NFL game in 2023.
