Draft intel could point to where the Broncos are hoping to swing in the upcoming NFL Draft, and fans should be thrilled
The NFL Draft is rapidly approaching, and the Denver Broncos are doing their due diligence.
The Denver Broncos have one of the most complete rosters in the NFL. You don’t win games in March, but the Broncos should be applauded for what they’ve accomplished. Even ESPN couldn’t help but gush about Denver, ranking them in the top five in terms of rosters in the NFL after the first wave of free agency is over and done with. Denver didn’t do much, except for taking care of their own.
Obviously, the biggest splash Denver made was trading for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. He’s an immediate difference-maker on offense and gives quarterback Bo Nix exactly what he’s been missing. It’s going to be fireworks in Denver with those two on the football field.
Despite taking care of their own and trading for Waddle, the team isn’t done building yet. Weeks ahead of the NFL Draft, intel has been released that could be pointing to where the Broncos are hoping to target in the upcoming draft.
It’s been reported that Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers has had a top-30 visit with Denver, and he also met with them at the NFL Combine. Tight end is a position of need, despite Evan Engram being on the roster. They could bolster that room in a big way if Stowers is taken in the draft.
Eli Stowers is an elite talent, and one that the Broncos should target
I spoke with Ryan Roberts from A to Z Sports about what kind of player Stowers is. Right now, ahead of playing any meaningful football, he’s widely considered the potential number two tight end in the draft class. A diamond in the rough for any team willing to take a swing at him.
In 2025 at Vanderbilt, Stowers finished the season with 62 receptions for 769 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 12.4 yards per reception. He also had two carries for two yards, showcasing that he can be used in multiple ways, even if the box score wasn’t his best friend.
“Eli Stowers has had a fascinating college journey, originally beginning his career as a four-star quarterback for the Texas A&M Aggies. He made the transition to tight end during his lone season with New Mexico State, and fast forward a couple of years, and Stowers became one of the better passing game weapons in the country.
“From a player perspective, Stowers isn’t going to bring anything to the table as a blocker. His game is very reminiscent of Evan Engram, doing his best work split out in the slot. He is an explosive athlete with mismatch upside. An offensive coordinator is going to have a very specific role for Stowers. If they do, they have a potential difference maker with alignment versatility.” – Ryan Roberts
If Denver is serious about taking this offense to another level, adding a weapon like Stowers makes too much sense to ignore. Pairing his mismatch ability with Waddle and Engram would give Nix a dynamic trio that stresses defenses at every level. Of course, they still have rising stars like Pat Bryant, Troy Franklin, Courtland Sutton, and Marvin Mims Jr at the helm as well.
The Broncos have done a great job building the foundation; now it’s about adding the final layer. Stowers might be the kind of swing that turns a really good roster into a dangerous one come fall.
