This would be exactly what the doctor ordered.

The Denver Broncos were a quarterback Bo Nix away from being in the Super Bowl. I will die on that hill. They just came up short against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.

Broncos Country was riding high after the overtime thriller against the Buffalo Bills, but that’s when disaster struck, and head coach Sean Payton confirmed that Nix would be out for the remainder of the season. Backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham took the reins, and the rest, as they say, is history.

It wasn’t just Stidham as the weather was nearly unplayable, making a hard situation even that much more difficult. With the season officially over, the Broncos can turn their attention to the offseason.

ESPN makes a huge prediction for the Broncos heading into 2026

ESPN made some predictions for teams regarding some trades that would make sense for both sides, and they have Denver signing a true No. 1 wide receiver threat that would immediately boost the offense.

Bill Barnwell predicts that the Broncos will land Philadelphia Eagles star A.J. Brown this offseason. The trade would have the Broncos acquiring Brown and a 2026 fifth-round pick in exchange for cornerback Riley Moss, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2027 fifth-round pick.

“The Broncos would be willing to move on from Moss because of what they have at cornerback. Surtain is not going anywhere. Ja’Quan McMillian — a restricted free agent — has been excellent in the slot. And GM George Paton used Denver’s 2025 first-round pick to draft Jahdae Barron out of Texas. [ . . . ] Trading Moss a year before free agency would lock in a draft pick and open a spot for Barron in the lineup.”

“Plus, Brown would be the wideout of Bo Nix’s and Sean Payton’s dreams. Nix’s accuracy issues downfield would be mitigated by Brown’s size, catch radius and ability to win on contested-catch opportunities. Payton has unlocked massive seasons from bigger wide receivers such as Marques Colston and Michael Thomas. Brown could be that player for Nix while pushing Courtland Sutton into a second wideout role. It would be a big swing for the Broncos, but after coming within a score of making it to the Super Bowl, I wouldn’t fault Payton for trying to add one more essential player on offense.” – Bill Barnwell

The former Ole Miss standout had a down year in 2025, with tensions rising between him and the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff. He finished the season with 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.

Brown would give Denver a reliable weapon and a downfield threat, which would be a dream paired with Nix and head coach Sean Payton.

Plenty of teams would be interested in Brown’s services; it’ll just be who has the best offer on the table at the end of the day. For the Broncos, they have the pieces to make this deal work. Only time will tell if Denver will pull the trigger in hopes of getting over the hump next season.
