The Denver Broncos came up short on Sunday in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots.
Denver fell 10-7 to the Patriots, thanks in large part to nearly unplayable weather conditions at Mile High.
The NFL season won’t officially end for another two weeks, but now that the Broncos are eliminated, they can start looking ahead to the offseason.
ESPN makes big prediction for the Broncos following the loss to the Patriots
ESPN made some predictions on Sunday for each NFL team’s offseason moves, and they have Denver signing one of the top available free agent wide receivers.
Aaron Schatz predicts that Denver will sign wide receiver Alec Pierce this offseason.
“After exploring a trade for Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in November, the Broncos will finally get their WR2 by signing the Colts’ Alec Pierce,” wrote Schatz. “A big, physical receiver who can block and win on contested catches downfield, he’s a perfect fit for Nix’s play style and Payton’s offense.”
Pierce, 6-3, 211 pounds, spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts after getting selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
The former Cincinnati Bearcats standout had the best season of his career in 2025, catching 47 passes for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns.
Pierce would give Denver a reliable downfield threat who can also make an impact as a blocking wide receiver.
There will be plenty of suitors for Pierce, and it’s possible the Colts could re-sign him, but he’d undoubtedly be a solid addition for the Broncos if he chooses to head west.
