The Denver Broncos, like the rest of the NFL, had to sit on the couch Sunday evening and watch the Seattle Seahawks beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.

Unlike most of the league, however, (aside from the Los Angeles Rams), the Broncos were just one game away from competing in the biggest game of the season.

If not for an unexpected fourth-quarter blizzard during the AFC Championship Game, it might have been the Broncos on the field Sunday night instead of the Patriots.

The good news for the Broncos is their Super Bowl window is still wide open — Denver just needs to make some strong offseason additions to address the team’s biggest weaknesses.

ESPN says the Denver Broncos need more ‘pop’ in 2026

ESPN revealed its early 2026 power rankings after the Super Bowl, and it has Denver at No. 4. To get over the hump in 2026, ESPN says the Broncos need to “find some pop” offensively this offseason.

“When the Broncos debrief the 2025 season, it will be difficult for them to escape the conclusion that a Super Bowl trip was hindered by their lack of impact on offense,” noted ESPN’s Jeff Legwold. “The Broncos were 14th in scoring even with quarterback Bo Nix in the lineup, so it’s well beyond the question of whether Nix playing in the AFC Championship Game would have changed anything. They were 29th in percentage of drives that ended in a three-and-out. They were 15th in plays of 20 yards or more (the other three conference championship teams were Nos. 1, 2 and 4), and running back J.K. Dobbins led the team in explosive runs despite not playing after Nov. 6.”

Late last month, Pro Football Focus suggested that Denver should target wide receiver George Pickens in free agency this offseason.

That would certainly qualify as adding some “pop,” but unfortunately for the Broncos, it looks like Pickens will stay with the Dallas Cowboys via the franchise tag.

Another free agent option that’s been mentioned for the Broncos is running back Kenneth Walker III, who was just named the MVP of Super Bowl LX.

It’s too early to know who will actually make it to free agency. Either way, the Broncos have the available cap space to make some big moves this offseason.

As long as the Broncos find a way to add an offensive playmaker or two this offseason, they should be viewed as one of the favorites to win it all next season.
