The Denver Broncos will face off against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in Week 3. Unluckily for them, they might be at a bit of a disadvantage. Referee Shawn Hochuli and his crew will officiate the Broncos' game. They lead the NFL in holding calls since 2020. So far in 2022, the Broncos lead the league in total penalties with 28.

The Browns have the second-most with 22, but they have played three games already.

Accordingly, the Broncos need to play a cleaner game against the 49ers. Their offensive line must be better in front of Russell Wilson, and the secondary has to be less grabby. Luckily, it sounds like they will have cornerback Patrick Surtain II. That helps a lot on the backend.

They will need to worry about tight end George Kittle as he makes his season debut for San Francisco. The Broncos have the talent to beat a tough, shifty 49ers team, but they will have to be sound on both sides of the ball to avoid penalties.

Keep an eye on the officiating tomorrow night. It could play a big role in the outcome for the Broncos.
