Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton had a lot to celebrate after the team’s Week 2 preseason win over the Arizona Cardinals. Offense, defense, and special teams were firing on all cylinders, and Broncos Country got to witness running back RJ Harvey’s first touchdown at Empower Field at Mile High. Now, there’s just one more exhibition game before the regular season begins. While Payton is taking on his former team, a lot of the magic is lost because this is preseason.

Here’s everything you need to know to be able to tune in to the upcoming preseason matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos.

3 players to watch for the Broncos

WR Pat Bryant: Troy Franklin got a lot of love with two touchdowns in the exhibition win against the Cardinals, but he wasn’t the only receiver making waves. Bryant made his presence felt early and often. He finished his day leading the team with 70 yards on four receptions. It was the nature in which Bryant was snagging these grabs that should have the Broncos’ front office jumping for joy. Highly contested, working back to the football, it was exactly what the fans were hoping to see. With a dress rehearsal before the regular season and an already strong camp, it’ll be fun to see what the former third-round pick can do. It doesn’t hurt that he leads the team with six receptions for 91 yards overall during two preseason showings.

OLB Jonah Elliss: Elliss was all over the football field, making explosive plays left and right. He was a one-man wrecking crew who has made strides since his rookie season. Nik Bonitto and Jonathan Cooper have their positions on the roster secured; the depth behind them is front and center. It remains to be seen how many edge rushers the Broncos decide to keep on their roster, but Elliss having another big day at the office could make it a much easier decision.

RB Blake Watson: It’s clear that Payton expects big things out of this running back room heading into the 2025 NFL season. While it’s a good problem to have, the team currently has far too many players at the position and not enough spaces to fill them all. Keep an eye out for Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie, and Audric Estime, along with Watson, to get a bulk of the touches. J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey are the clear one-two punch; it’ll be exciting to see who makes the team.

Payton, on more than one occasion, has brought up the fact that he thinks this team is a Super Bowl contender. With only one final tune-up remaining, fans won’t have to wait long to see what they’re made of as their first regular-season matchup against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 7.
