The Denver Broncos are making their final preparations before their upcoming NFL preseason matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
There are plenty of questions after the team's first preseason game and a few areas that Sean Payton and the coaching staff would like to clean up in this game. And, hopefully, not suffer a devastating last-second defeat which I previously wrote about.
After Saturday, while we won't have any concrete answers, we should have a better look at what this team is going to be like come the regular season. The offensive line holding up long enough for Wilson to be successful will be the biggest test. Outside of that, the loaded running back room, the battle for TE1, and the current state of the K on the roster, among others.
Broncos fans are hoping for a massive change come next season, and so are we.

How does Russell Wilson look?
Wilson's start was pretty shaky in their first preseason game. A fumble and not hitting receivers in stride to start the contest was a bad look. Admittedly, we aren't sure how much of that was Wilson and how much of that was his offensive line breaking down against the absolutely not terrifying Cardinals defensive line.
As the game progressed, Wilson started to find a rhythm, something that had happened in camp as well. Wilson started slow but has been having some really nice days lately, finding his receivers for long touchdowns and dissecting the defense.
A walk-in touchdown from Jerry Jeudy against the Cardinals very quickly made us forget about Wilson's slow start. Can he start off hot and put a couple of series together? Or will the offensive line let him down and force another shaky start?
Will Javonte Williams get plenty of touches?
All eyes have been on Denver as their star RB is making his return to football. Some thought that last week, against the Cardinals, Williams might see some playing time. Selfishly, we were hoping against that as the Cardinals' field is a graveyard for ACLs.
With Williams set to play in his first action of the preseason, we're excited to see the current state of the RB room. There's plenty of talent behind him in the pecking order, but this is very much Williams' backfield.
Even if it's just one carry, we're beyond excited to see what Williams can do in a live-game situation.
4 players to keep an eye on
- K Brett Maher: And then there was one. Elliott Fry was recently released, leaving Maher as the only active kicker on the roster. To say he had a bad game would be an understatement and all eyes are going to be on him to see if he is the future at the position. Another bad game, don't be surprised if Payton brings in some competition immediately.
- RB Jaleel McLaughlin: Once again, we are pounding the table for McLaughlin. He started his first game on a bad note as his nameplate was incorrect. Not seeing playing time until late in the game, McLaughlin made his presence known with some nice running, a crucial catch (we're ignoring the fumble), and what should've been a game-winning touchdown. We're hoping for some more reps and to see more out of McLaughlin in the upcoming matchup.
- OT Garett Bolles: While we could've just said the entire offensive line, Bolles is the biggest name that comes to mind. With Mike McGlinchey still battling an injury, and Bolles spending the offseason rehabbing, all eyes are going to be glued to his portion of the offensive line to see if he's 100% for the season.
- S JL Skinner: With P.J. Locke going down with an injury, this just gives Skinner more playing time. This is his dress rehearsal for more playing time and to see if the Broncos found another diamond in the rough in the sixth-round selection.
