The Denver Broncos, once again, find themselves in the loss column after a game against the New York Jets in which they had every opportunity to walk out of their own stadium with a victory.

While the team was without their dominant RB Javonte Williams, rookie sensation Jaleel McLaughlin was able to step up to the plate and have a successful afternoon against the stout Jets defense.

Unfortunately, a costly fumble from Russell Wilson late in the contest proved to be the difference-maker as the Broncos fell to the Jets.

The storylines surrounding this game stemmed from the controversial comments Broncos' Sean Payton had about the previous regime. Specifically, Nathaniel Hackett.

What started with some shots at the former head coach turned into Payton calling the Jets offseason champions, adding more fuel to the fire of this highly-anticipated matchup. With the Jets securing the victory, head coach Robert Saleh went viral for what he did immediately after the game.

His message was simple, stay healthy. Broncos fans don't need to be reminded how devastating injuries have been to this unit over the past few seasons. It seems like every week another star is going down for a substantial amount of time.

This unfortunate trend carried over from last season, into this past offseason where a pair of players went down with season-ending injuries. During this season, the Broncos have been without some of their top players on both sides of the football.

Payton has done everything he can to try and turn things around, and Wilson has undoubtedly taken an important step in the right direction in hopes of leading this offense to success.

A little piece of humble pie is good for the soul, after all the trash-talking over the offseason, the Jets got the upper hand in this one. While it was yet another close game, the fanbase is starting to grow restless.

Something needs to change.
