The Denver Broncos are coming off back-to-back wins with a contest against the New York Giants next on the schedule.

Ahead of the contest, the team made a flurry of roster moves, including placing offensive lineman Matt Peart and fellow offensive lineman Ben Powers on injured reserve. Quarterback Bo Nix and the offense are down some key protectors up front. The team also placed linebacker Garrett Wallow on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least the next four games.

That’s not to say that it’s all bad news, and Broncos Country should be excited with the latest team update. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw has returned to practice after being sidelined and subsequently placed on injured reserve. He’s been designated to return from injured reserve, which is a huge step for Greenlaw and the organization.

Denver signed Greenlaw to a three-year contract in March 2025 worth $31.5 million, with $14.5 million in guaranteed money.

Greenlaw has battled through injury

Greenlaw has a lengthy injury history during his career in the NFL. In 2020, he missed two games; in 2021, he missed 14 games and missed one game in each of the 2022 and 2023 seasons. In February of 2024, he suffered an Achilles injury, which forced him out of all but two games during the season.

Denver picked up the linebacker during the 2024 offseason, hoping to make a difference on the defensive side of the football. However, Greenlaw’s bad injury luck continued before even getting on the field for the Broncos.

While working out in April, Greenlaw suffered a calf injury that carried on through camp and is the injury he is battling through currently. The substantial calf injury has sidelined him through the team’s first six weeks of the season, and his return will be a welcome one.

His return adds even more firepower to a defense that’s already hitting its stride.
