Nathaniel Hackett is showing improvements that could help him in life after the Broncos

Nathaniel Hackett won't be back as the Denver Broncos head coach in 2023. I think we can all agree with that. He is a great guy, who has a lot of positive energy, but unfortunately, he isn't ready to be a head coach yet.
The Broncos are one of the worst teams in the league. They are definitely a bottom-three team, which is sad when you consider the expectations they had coming into the season.
Honestly, it wasn't fair for Hackett to be under the fire as much as he is. It's his first gig with a new team that has a new staff, a new quarterback, and a new ownership group. Oh, and expectations that he didn't ask for.
But, this is the NFL, and it is a business. Deion Sanders said it best in his Colorado University press conference; You either elevate or get terminated, and that's what's happening with Hackett.
I think things would be different if he had let's say seven wins right now instead of three. But, he doesn't.
But, there is one thing he is getting better at that can help him into his next gig, wherever that may be. Hackett is learning to coach his team out of bad situations and dig his team out of holes, as we saw on Sunday against Kansas City.
“How can we get back into it? I think that was the only thing I cared about," Hackett said when asked what his message was to the team down 27-0.
"We live series to series. We talked and communicated with the offense. We want to make sure that we're going to get into more of our uptempo stuff to speed the game up. We knew that's what kind of game it was once we were in that situation. In the end, it's just about series to series. What are we going to do to be able to get points on the board? That's all we talked about.”
Early in the season, the Broncos would not only blow leads, but they would also have no fight when they were down. They just went head-to-head with who is considered the best team in the league.
Hackett won't be a head coach again for a few years, at the least. But, he will get another assistant job somewhere, because he has shown before Denver that he can coach as an assistant.
Finishing the season strong and showing improvements in areas like this will only help him in his life after the Broncos.
