The Denver Broncos’ full focus right now is on their upcoming divisional round playoff game against the Buffalo Bills.

Denver and Buffalo will kick off at 4:30 PM ET on Saturday.

It won’t be long, though, before the Broncos are forced to make some big offseason decisions.

And one of those decisions will be whether to re-sign running back JK Dobbins.

Pro Football Focus says the Broncos can’t afford to lose JK Dobbins

Pro Football Focus named one free agent that each NFL team can’t afford to lose this offseason and they went with Dobbins for the Broncos.

“Dobbins was terrific through the first 10 weeks of the season,” wrote PFF’s Bradley Locker. “The former Raven and Charger procured an 80.8 PFF rushing grade with 32 missed tackles forced and 21 explosive carries before suffering a season-ending foot injury against the Raiders. Since Dobbins’ exit, the Broncos fell from a 79.5 to a 68.2 team PFF rushing grade.”

There’s no doubt that Dobbins is a dynamic player — he was averaging 5.0 yards per carry before he went down with a season-ending injury in 2025.

But even though Dobbins is still only 27 years old, re-signing him — unless it’s a very team friendly deal — could be too big of a risk for the Broncos to take.

Since entering the league in 2020, Dobbins has played in 47 out of 101 regular season games. He’s simply not durable enough for the Broncos to count on. Even if Denver signs Dobbins to a team-friendly deal, it could mean the franchise misses out on other running backs that may be more dependable.

The Broncos have plenty to think about before a decision is made. It just feels like there are better ways for Denver to attack free agency in the spring.
