The Denver Broncos have had an awful trend of breaking our hearts at nearly the last minute. A trend that started in the preseason carried over into the regular season.

Russell Wilson and the offense started hot but allowed the Washington Commanders to sneak back into the contest and secure the 2-point victory.

Late in the game, QB Russell Wilson threw up a prayer as time expired. It bobbled around a few defenders and offensive players before WR Brandon Johnson was able to secure the catch, leaving only a two-point conversion remaining.

Wilson dropped back and saw Sutton in the endzone and fired a laser. Sutton, with the defender draped all over him, wasn't able to secure the catch and no call was made, meaning the game was over. Take a look at the video and see for yourself.

This was as blatant of a pass interference as we've ever seen and can't imagine what the officials saw, or didn't see, to stop them from throwing the flag. A team shouldn't wait and hope that officials make a call for them to win, but this was a game-altering no-call that cost the team the game.

Again, this never should have come down to a last-second play. It hurts even more that Wilson was able to connect on the insane Hail Mary but the team fell short. They have a lot of heart, and there's a lot to clean up, but fans should be excited about the future of the team.

Onto next week.
