The Denver Broncos and Nik Bonitto agreed to terms on a massive four-year, $106 million contract extension. The deal makes Bonitto the highest-paid non-quarterback in franchise history in terms of average annual salary, and keeps him with the team long-term. The deal can be worth up to $120 million if he reaches his incentives. Bonitto was quick to hop on social media with an unforgettable message, setting his sights on the ultimate goal of a Super Bowl.

A simple repost on X with the news of his extension, with the caption, “Let’s go win this (expletive) chip now!” should have Broncos Country ready to run through a brick wall. If you thought he was done there, Bonitto went viral again after posting a video of him dancing and singing in the car on his Instagram. You can feel the emotion radiating off of him — it’s infectious.

Bonitto speaks out about his contract extension

Bonitto was made available to the media to talk about his extension and his outlook for the 2025 season. It was a life-changing moment for the superstar pass rusher and his family, and before anyone could even utter a single word, he took the mic to thank everyone around him.

“I want to start off by thanking Greg and Carrie Penner, Coach Sean, George, my teammates, and my parents,” Bonitto said, “Everybody that was involved on this journey helping me get here. There’s no amount of gratitude I can show that can show how appreciative I am of everyone involved.”

Contract situations can always be a bit sticky, especially when you’re talking about hundreds of millions of dollars. General manager George Paton and the organization did a remarkable job getting the deal done before the season began, with no drama unfolding around their negotiations. Bonitto was always crystal clear about what the plan was and shared his thoughts with the media. A man of few words, but they held so much weight.

“Never had any doubts that it would get done,” Bonitto said. “They ended up getting it done. Happy to be here.”

Bonitto has his own goals well beyond an extension

After becoming over $100 million richer, Bonitto was grounded in his response when asked if the money was going to change him. He pointed back to the larger goals of the team, and even his own personal goals, while also admitting that it is nice to have some of that sweet, sweet cash.

“Obviously, it’s nice to have some money now, but that’s not the end goal for me. I had goals way bigger than that coming into the league, and I’m just going to continue to keep working to achieve those things. My collective goals and the team goals.”

Circling back to the moment he agreed to terms, the one-man wrecking crew on the football field gave an inside look at what makes him tick. He pointed to his family immediately and how a swell of emotions came over him after it was done.

“A lot of tears. I think I probably ran out of tears to last a year,” Bonitto said. “Just talking with my mom, my dad, my brother, my agent, it was a whole bunch of emotions going through me this morning. Obviously, the video I posted is going viral with me singing and stuff, but I mean, it’s just been a whirlwind of emotions today for sure.”

An incredible day for both Bonitto and the organization. All eyes are going to be on Sept. 7 with the Tennessee Titans coming to town for the season-opener. Perhaps he’ll celebrate with a few sacks and a victory. That’d be nice.
