The trade deadline has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the Denver Broncos are done making moves. On Wednesday, Adam Schefter reported that the Broncos are signing wide receiver and former Denver Bronco Lil’Jordan Humphrey off the Giants’ practice squad. What’s more, he’s likely to suit up and play in the upcoming game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Quarterback Bo Nix and the offense get another playmaker with plenty of experience in head coach Sean Payton’s offense. Humphrey spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons with the Broncos before joining the Giants.

The seven-year veteran was undrafted after playing college football for the Texas Longhorns. During his college career, he led the Big 12 in slot receptions and yards in 2018, was the highest-graded Texas receiver in a single season in the PFF College Era, and was ninth in the Big 12 for yards per route run in 2018.

Dynamic playmaker returns to Denver

Humphrey was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints, spending the first three years of his career there with six starts, recording 16 receptions for 295 yards and three touchdowns. His lone season in New England saw him haul in only two catches for 20 yards. He was definitely the most productive during his two years in Denver, though, amassing 44 receptions for 455 yards and four touchdowns.

In the 2025 season, he started in two games for the Giants with four receptions for 55 yards before ultimately being placed on the practice squad, which allowed the Broncos to swoop in and sign him to the 53-man roster. While he’s not a splash player, it’s a solid pickup by the organization at this point in the season.

For a team still finding its identity on offense, Humphrey’s return could provide a spark Denver needs heading down the final half of the season, especially with depth and chemistry becoming critical.
